While We Wait
The Gale Force Theatre production is a touring production. I had the pleasure of designing the set and the puppets as well as puppeteering for this production. This trailer also features musician Erin Donovan and actor Lily Falk. Direction by Franziska Glen.
Icarus: Falling of Birds
This Gale Force Theatre production was an adaptation of a book of poetry and photograph by Maritime artists Harry Thurston and Thaddeus Holownia into a multidisciplinary landscape performance. The performance, Icarus, Falling of Birds, is a response to an ecological disaster that happened in 2013 when 10, 000 migratory birds on their journey South were attracted "like moths to a flame" to a hundred-foot-high flare at the Canaport Liquified Natural Gas plant in Saint John, NB.
Ian McFarlane and I designed created the flags, giant hand puppets and the hanging nest installations. We also led a group of puppeteers during in the performance.
Devil’s Store
This music video made by North Barn Theatre in collaboration with Callum Gaudet for his song The Devil’s Store. It was filmed by Charlie Benoit and edited by Jeff Miller at North Barn Studio, Ohio West, NS in the fall of 2023. It is a reflection of what parts of ourselves we unwittingly give over to a hyper-consumerist society.
Ghosts
This music video made by North Barn Theatre in collaboration with Callum Gaudet for his song Ghosts. It was filmed by Charlie Benoit and edited by Jeff Miller at Two Islands in Parrsboro, NS in March of 2023. It is a celebration of landscapes and the mythical critters that both haunt and are a part of them.
The Flock
The March of the Crows is a celebration of the multitude of crows who live in the small city of Charlottetown, PEI. In the summer of 2020 The River Clyde Pageant created The Flock to mark the tenth anniversary of this event with a giant crow puppet, live music and stilted crows. The giant crow puppet was created in collaboration with Ian McFarlane.
Late Night Radio
Late Night Radio is a drive in puppet theatre experience created by The North Barn Theatre Collective in Spring 2020. This short film captures moments of a dress rehearsal for the show in New Glasgow, PEI.
Gathering
This crankie was created by The North Barn Theatre Collective in April 2020 in the aftermath of the mass shooting in Nova Scotia. Gathering was prohibited yet we felt the need to come together and hold each other. It was performed outdoors as an offering for individual households.
The Forecast Called for Rain
This puppet short was created by The North Barn Theatre Collective in the Spring of 2020. It features an interrupted afternoon and an invitation to come outside.
